ABS DIET


















Millions of people have set a goal of developing tight, muscular abs.  Unfortunately most never reach their worthwhile goal.  What they don’t know is just how close they were to sporting the look they so desired.  When you get right down to it, each one of us already has the much desired “six-pack”.  For most of us, however, it is buried underneath a layer of flab that accumulated through a lifestyle that was a bit too sedentary and a diet too rich in calories, fat, or both.  This article will explain the type of diet necessary to achieve a body fat level that is low enough to show off maximum abdominal muscularity. In order to actually see your abdominal muscles you will be aiming for a body fat percentage of around 10%. Of course, taking your body fat down to the 5-7% range will only enhance the muscular look. The main focus of your nutritional program should be to reduce body fat.  One of the most important weight loss rules to remember is that in order to lose weight you must burn more calories than you take in.  This,however, must be delicately balanced because if you drastically reduce your caloric intake to create this negative calorie balance, the resulting down regulation of your metabolism will work against you. Equally important is exactly where you are getting the calories you do consume.  The latter point is missed by most people.  All abs diet recipes are not created equal and following low-calorie or fad diets will not lead you down a path towards improved health, long term body fat loss and successful weight management.

When it comes to dieting for body fat loss, bodybuilders have figured it out.  The type of diet bodybuilders and fitness models follow will give you the most bang for the buck.  Be warned, however, that this abs diet is very strict and leaves no room for cheating.  If you are serious about your goal and have always wanted to see your abs then you will ultimately succeed.  Don’t start this abs diet plan if you are dealing with other stressful situations in your life.  Moving, changing jobs, divorce or the recent birth of a child are all reasons to put this abs diet on the back burner.  The abs diet will need to be your main focus.  Period.  Commit yourself to 8-12 weeks of strict dieting in order to meet your goal.  Once there, try to stay as strict as you can to your eating plan for an additional 1-2 weeks before resuming a program that will take your body fat to slightly higher and healthier levels.  Remember it is not healthy to remain at the low level of body fat necessary to see your abs for an extended period of time!

Enough said.  Let’s get down to work.  The following free abs diet is just an example of the food choices.  This is also an effective abs diet for women. Serving sizes will probably have to be modified to make it work for each individual.  Look for a weight loss of 3/4 to 1 pound each week.  Alter your caloric intake to keep your weight loss slow and steady.  The slower you take it off the more likely you are to keep it off.

 

Here are some abs diet meal plans:

FREE ABS DIET

6 a.m.
8 egg whites (scrambled with vegetables of your choice-see below)
1 serving oatmeal

9 a.m.
4-6 ounces chicken or fish
1 cup brown rice
1 cup steamed vegetables (*no peas or carrots)
(Or repeat 6 am meal)

12 p.m.
4-6 ounces chicken or fish
1 medium baked potato (plain)
1 cup steamed vegetables (*no peas or carrots)

3 p.m.
4-6 ounces chicken or fish
1 cup brown rice

6 p.m.
4-6 ounces chicken or fish
2 cups steamed vegetables

9 p.m.
Protein drink
(preferably Designer Whey protein powder mixed with water)

The rule for this abs diet is simple: if it is not on this menu, you can’t have it.  Egg whites are scrambled dry in a non-stick pan.  Oatmeal is plain (you can add sweet and low), do not add anything else to it.  You can no longer have fruit but do add vegetables every chance you get (you will need the fiber).  Your chicken or fish should be baked, grilled or broiled.  You can add dry seasonings to your food but nothing else.  No dairy, breads, sugar or fat.  DO NOT MISS A MEAL!!!! This will result in a loss of lean body mass (muscle) which you want to avoid at all costs. If you have to choose between missing a workout or missing a meal, skip the workout and eat.
